Join Junior and his cousin Charlie, who is visiting from California, as the two cousins explore iconic locations throughout the Great Lakes State of Michigan. See how Charlie, who is a little afraid of new places, learns to adjust to his new surroundings and understands that "different is cool, not scary." Children of all ages will identify with Charlie's feelings and enjoy encouraging him with the refrain, "It's ok, Charlie."
The whimsical characters in this story seem to jump from the artist's pen and come alive, delighting readers and listeners alike as the boys explore Michigan from the farm fields in the Mitten to the shores of Lake Superior.
"My Michigan Summer" is a wonderful book for all children ages 4-8.

As a Michigander, I loved seeing the photographs of some of my favorite places in Michigan in this fun children's story. The drawings and sculptures of the two cousin characters are adorable! With only a few lines, the artist was able to give these boys a LOT of personality! I love the way the author developed the relationship between the bolder cousin "Junior" with his California cousin, who is slightly insecure as he experiences new activities and new places in Michigan. I hope this author and illustrator write a sequel because I can't wait to see what Junior thinks of his journey to Los Angeles. I think my grandchildren will really enjoy this book on their iPad!Product details

My Michigan Summer edition by Rose Klopf Tithof Frederick Arndt Children eBooks Reviews
Is it Grandma's job to keep her children and grandchildren close to each other even when many miles separate their homes? My mother worked at it, as do I. Rose Tithof takes on this challenge in My Michigan Summer. The cousins live miles apart but she tells a story of friendship and warmth guaranteed to make cousins feel close. And if a visit is to Michigan, then this book carries a big boon of many wonderful places to visit while the bonding is taking place!
Young children will enjoy this adventure of cousins being buddies. I got it for my grandchildren. Downloaded it onto Fire with no problem.
This is a delightful story about two cousins who get to spend the summer together in Michigan. What a perfect story for kids who get to see extended family once a year in the summer...family reunions??? The darling figures in this book make it easy for any child to insert himself or herself into the action. I downloaded this to my instantly and it reads very well on that format! I've never been to Michigan but this story makes me want to go!
